Candle Lake Fun Run 2026 - Year #5!

This weekend at Candle Lake reminded me of something I’ve learned through some of life’s hardest seasons: we don’t always need to keep pushing forward. Sometimes, we need to pause, breathe, and let others walk alongside us. 💚

Mental health isn’t always visible. Behind the smiles, the laughter and the “I’m doing okay” can be struggles that no one else knows about.

I’ve experienced seasons in my own life when getting through the day took more strength than anyone could see. And one of the things I’ve come to understand is that resilience isn’t about doing everything on our own.

Community matters. Connection matters. Being willing to reach out matters.

This weekend’s fun run in support of mental health awareness was about more than running. It was about coming together, moving, laughing, encouraging one another and creating space for conversations that can sometimes be difficult to have.

We can’t fix someone’s struggles with a single conversation or a fun day together. But we can show up.

We can check in.

We can listen without trying to fix.

We can invite someone for a walk.

We can remind each other that asking for help is not weakness.

And we can make sure people know they don’t have to carry everything alone.

Sometimes life asks us to run.

Sometimes it asks us to slow down.

And sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is pause.

So here’s to community, connection, movement, laughter and making the most of the moments we have — while remembering that not every moment has to be perfect to be meaningful.

Pause when you need to. Reach out when it’s hard. And when you can, be the person who shows up for someone else.

Because we truly do make the most of our moments when we don’t have to walk through them alone. 💚
